ELLI - Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory

ELLI is an exciting new idea that has captured the imagination of many teachers. It demonstrates that when teachers are able to focus on what really matters in the classroom - learning - they can create a climate which helps people actually get better at the process of learning itself.

ELLI comes from Bristol University’s School of Education where researchers carried out extensive studies into what makes some people interested in learning throughout their lives, while others drop out of the system early on.

By increasing awareness of these learning dimensions and by fostering them in the classroom, teachers are able to stimulate learning power and help people to become better learners.
